About P3 Split Taper Lock Bushing

CTS® P3 Split Bushing

The P series taper lock bushing is built for a problem every plant engineer knows: the hub is already bored, but the load grew. P1, P2, and P3 share one large-end OD and one bolt circle, so you can move up the length scale and keep every pulley, sprocket, and hub you already own.

The P3 taper bushing is longer and better for heavier-duty needs: deeper shaft engagement spreads the load over more of the bore, which pays off on gearmotor outputs, elevator heads, and other drives where torque keeps climbing.

It is a standard size in the Browning-style system: a CTS P3 swaps directly with Browning P3 and Martin P3. Selection numbers: bore 1-1/8" to 1-5/8", torque 192 in-lbs; the technical table above holds the rest.

    FAQs

What is the difference between the P1, P2, and P3 split taper bushings?
Same OD, bolt circle, and screw set (three 5/16" at 192 in-lbs). They differ in length and therefore shaft engagement: P3 is the longest and suits the highest torque in the family, and P1 is the shortest.
    Can I fit a P3 where a P1 was, without re-boring the hub?
Yes — the P family shares one OD and bolt circle, so the length can change without touching the hub. Check the hub's minimum bore before sizing up.
