Description
About ANSI #50-4 Roller Chains
CTS® ANSI #50-4 roller chain is a four-strand (quad) roller chain built to ANSI/ASME B29.1 on a 5/8" (15.875 mm) pitch. Four rows of links run on the same pins and on one four-row #50 chain sprocket, so a single compact drive replaces four separate single-strand chains—fewer shafts, fewer take-ups, and one lubrication point. Minimum tensile strength is 88.8 kN (19,976 lbf), and the chain is fully interchangeable with other ANSI-certified #50-4 chains and standard four-row #50 sprockets. Every chain component is heat-treated, shot-peened, and hardened, and the chain is supplied with a factory-applied premium lubricant.
CTS® high-quality ANSI #50-4 roller chains are built to keep your machine running!

Four Strands or Four Separate Chains?
| Item | One ANSI #50-4 Roller Chain | |
| Shafts and bearings | One four-row sprocket set on one shaft | Four sprockets; wider shaft or more shafts |
| Axial width | One chain, 75.1 mm pin length | Four separate chains and sprockets |
| Lubrication | One lubrication point | Four points |
Tensioning | One take-up; rows cannot run out of phase | Four take-ups; synchronisation can drift |
Weight | 4.30 kg/m total | About 4.4 kg/m (4 x 1.10 kg/m) |
Best when | All four rows share drive line and the load is even | Strands must run at different speeds or over widely separated shafts |
