Description

About Standard Series Forged Link Chain

CTS® Drop Forged Link Chain

The 16018 is a standard-series drop-forged fork link chain: 160 mm pitch, 22 mm pin, 46 mm link height, 9.30 kg/m, and a breaking load of 560 kN in CD grade. Forged links and heat-treated pins resist the abrasion and shock loading that cast and fabricated chains fail under in cement, sand and gravel, coal and biomass handling.

Steel grades: TN, CN, or CD

TN _ Manganese Chrome Alloy Steel (20MnCr5) Case hardened
CN _ Chrome Nickel Alloy Steel (18NiCoMo5) Case Hardened
CD _ Chrome Molly Alloy Steel (42CrMo4) Hardened & Tempered

Matching sprocket

The chain runs on a 160 mm pitch drop forged chain sprocket. Pitch diameter follows PD = 160 / sin(180°/z):

Teeth (z)Pitch diameter
6320.0 mm
7368.8 mm
8418.1 mm
9467.8 mm
10517.8 mm

Outside diameter, tooth form, and root radius come from the sprocket drawing, not from the pitch diameter alone. Send the chain model and the shaft layout, and we will confirm the pair before either part is made.

FAQs

What is the difference between 16018 and 16025?
Both are 160 mm pitch. The 16025 has a 25 mm pin, a 50 mm link height, and a 655 kN CD breaking load at 10.80 kg/m; the 16018 has a 22 mm pin, a 46 mm link height, and 560 kN at 9.30 kg/m. Choose 16018 for new conveyors sized around the lower load, and 16025 when the chain is the limiting part of an existing drive.
Which Steel grade of Forged Link Chain should I order?
TN for clean, steady conveying; CN where the chain takes impact or the material is abrasive; CD for the heaviest loads, hot material, and long intervals between shutdowns. If you are replacing a chain that failed early, tell us how it failed and dash; that decides the grade better than the tonnage does.
