Roller Chain FAQs

Can you provide roller chains with special attachments?

Yes, we can manufacture roller chains with a wide range of custom attachments to meet specific application requirements.Attachment chains are commonly used in conveying, lifting, and automated equipment where additional components are needed to connect fixtures, carriers, or other mechanical parts. We can produce chains with standard attachments such as A, K, and SA types, as well as fully customized attachment designs. Custom chain attachments can be manufactured based on technical drawings, samples, or detailed specifications. Parameters such as attachment spacing, hole size, plate thickness, and surface treatment can all be adjusted to suit your equipment. Attachment Type Typical Use A Attachment Conveyor fixing points K Attachment Mounting brackets or carriers SA Attachment Extended plate attachments Custom AttachmentSpecial conveying or automation systems Our engineering team can assist in reviewing attachment designs and ensuring compatibility with your chain system. If you have an existing chain with special attachments, providing a drawing or sample will help us ensure accurate reproduction and proper fit for your application.

What grade stainless steel roller chains do you offer?

We offer stainless steel roller chains in several material grades to meet different operating requirements, primarily including AISI 304 and AISI 316.Commonly, SS304 stainless steel roller chains provide good corrosion resistance for general industrial and food processing environments. SS316 stainless steel roller chains are available for more demanding applications such as marine, coastal, or chemical exposure, and offer enhanced resistance to chloride corrosion.Material certificates can be provided upon request. Other material grades or mixed-material constructions can also be customized according to technical requirements. Difference Between 304 and 316 stainless steel chains The main difference between 304 and 316 stainless steel roller chains is the corrosion resistance performance. Feature AISI 304 AISI 316 General Corrosion Resistance Good Excellent Chloride Resistance Moderate Very High Cost Level Lower Higher AISI 316 contains molybdenum, which significantly improves resistance to saltwater and aggressive chemicals. Roller chain material selection should be based on the operating environment and expected service life. What sizes are available for stainless steel roller chains? We supply stainless steel roller chains in both ANSI and DIN/ISO standards, including common sizes such as:ANSI 40SS, 50SS, 60SS, 80SS06BSS, 08BSS, 10BSS, 12BSSBoth simplex and multiple-strand configurations are available. Custom sizes, attachments, and special lengths can be manufactured upon request. Are your stainless steel chains suitable for food processing applications? Yes. Stainless steel roller chains are widely used in food processing, packaging, beverage, and pharmaceutical industries due to their corrosion resistance and clean surface properties.AISI 304 chains are typically sufficient for most indoor food production environments. For high-humidity or washdown conditions, AISI 316 is often recommended.Chains can be supplied with smooth finishes suitable for cleaning processes. Material documentation can be provided when required. What is the working temperature range of stainless steel roller chains? Stainless steel roller chains can generally operate in temperature ranges from approximately -20°C to 400°C, depending on the material grade and lubrication conditions. At elevated temperatures, lubrication becomes a critical factor affecting service life. For high-temperature applications, special lubricants or dry-running solutions may be required. Is your roller chain supplied with split bushings or solid bushings?

Generally, standard roller chains are manufactured with split bushings, which are widely used in medium-load and conventional working industrial applications and offer a good balance between performance and cost. However, for applications requiring higher fatigue strength, heavier loads, or more demanding operating environments, solid-bushing roller chains have better performance. Solid bushings provide improved structural integrity, better load distribution, and longer service life, but involve higher manufacturing complexity and cost.We are able to recommend the most suitable option based on your specific application requirements. Feature Solid Bush Roller Chain Split Bush Roller Chain Manufacturing Cold-forged, seamless bushings Rolled sheet metal with a seam Fatigue Strength Higher Lower Lubrication Retention Strong, retains lubrication longer Weak, lubricant escapes easily ApplicationHeavy-dutyLight-dutyLifespan2-3 times longerShorterCostHigher upfront but lower in long-term costsCheaper upfront We supply both solid bushing and split bushing roller chains, and recommend the most suitable option based on your specific application requirements. Also, if you need custom roller chains, we have roller chain custom service for you to get better-performance in the application.
