Duplex Chain Sprocket VS. Double Single Sprocket
Two common—but often confused— industrial sprocket types are duplex sprockets and double single sprockets. Although they may look similar at first glance, they serve different functions and are used in different applications.
What Are Duplex Chain Sprockets ?
A duplex chain sprocket is designed to operate with a double-strand roller chain. It has two rows of teeth, and both rows work together to engage a single double-strand roller chain. Duplex chain sprockets are commonly used in high-power, high-load applications where more torque needs to be transmitted than a single chain can handle.
What Are Double Single Sprockets ?
A double single sprocket also has two rows of teeth, but each row is designed to drive its single-strand chain. These two chains run independently of each other. It's often used when two separate drive systems need to be powered from a single shaft or source.
